"Broken Islands - Twenty-Two"

72 inches wide x 45 inches tall

4,300   SOLD

“Broken Islands - Twenty Two” is a coastal scene from The Broken Group on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in Barkley Sound, south of Ucluelet.  The painting is inspired by the same sea kayaking trips as the other pieces from the Broken Islands series.  I find that the landscapes along that stretch of coast just feel so alive with movement, colour, the drama of the light from whatever the weather is doing, and just an overall awe inspiring beauty.  And all of that working together sort of weaves together this enchantment, or energy, or whatever you want to call it that fires up the imagination with this hint of an intangible sense of something that can't quite be put into words and yet is ever so captivating.  (If that makes any sense?) :-)  More simply put, the area just has a really interesting look and beauty to it that I'm quite fascinated by and hopefully that comes across in this painting.

"Hiking The Helm Creek Crossing" (Garibaldi Park, Whistler area)

45 inches wide x 36 inches tall

3,000   SOLD

This painting is a mountain scene from Garibaldi Park in British Columbia.  Located north of Vancouver, the provincial park lies east of the Sea to Sky Highway.  It stretches from Squamish all the way up to Whistler and encompasses a wild and well used recreational area where grizzly bears still roam glacial mountain rages with wolves, black bear, mountain goats, cougars, and other wildlife.

A couple of summers ago I hiked a trail through the park called the "Helm Creek Crossing."  A 25 km one way route, it connects Cheakamus Lake to the Taylor Meadows below Black Tusk.  Quite a long day hike, but well worth it for the scenery and sense of being out on the edge of the backcountry.

Cerise Creek - Three

24"  x  18"

"Cerise Creek - Three"  This is a sunny, brighter mountain scene inspired during a mountaineering course I took a few years ago north of the Whistler Ski Resort area, north of Pemberton actually, where there are some oversized wild fires burning at the moment.

Broken Islands - Two

48"  x  24"

SOLD

"Broken Islands - Two" This is a piece that I finally reworked the 'background' of and quite happy with now. The inspiration for the painting was initially from a sea kayaking trip to the Broken Islands on the west coast of Vancouver Island, south of Tofino.  There are some beautiful landscapes to explore on the water in this area!
